Welcome Message
The 10th Conference of Asian Society of Veterinary Pathology
Chairman Hiroyuki Nakayama, DVM, PhD, DJCVP
Animal Medical Center Peco

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza, the importance of human and animal health and the conservation of the environment surrounding them is widely recognized worldwide, and the concept of "One Health" is drawing attention. In particular, the Asian region is often the places of first outbreak of zoonotic diseases caused by wild animals. I am keenly aware that it is the mission of us veterinary pathologists working in Asia to pathologically diagnose such infectious diseases quickly and accurately, and to contribute to understanding the whole picture of the diseases and preventing its spread. The Asian Society of Veterinary Pathology, which was established in 2003, held its first academic conference in Tokyo in the same year. The present conference is the 10th memorable event, held again in Tokyo, and jointly hosted by Japanese College of Veterinary Pathologists. It would be my great pleasure if sharing pathological information on wildlife diseases that have occurred in the Asian region and attempting analysis on and response to the diseases from the perspective of "One Health" would contribute to the improvement of human and animal health and the conservation of the environment.
The 10th Annual Meeting of the Japanese College of Veterinary Pathologists
Chairman Masami Suzuki, DVM, PhD, DJCVP
Central Institute for Experimental Animals

I, Masami Suzuki from the Central Institute for Experimental Animals, am honored to serve as Chairman of the 10th Annual Meeting of the Japanese College of Veterinary Pathologists, to be held from Wednesday March 29th to Friday March 30st 2023 at Tower Hall Funabori (Edogawa-ku, Tokyo), together with 10th Conference of Asian Society of Veterinary Pathology.
The theme for this meeting is “One Health and Veterinary Pathology in Asia”. The advantages of pathology are that organs, tissues, and cells of the body can be observed and evaluated systemically by a relatively simple method and that reference to an established body of knowledge makes it possible to infer the etiology, pathological processes, pathogenesis, and effects on the body as a whole. Veterinary pathologists have a responsibility to advance the body of knowledge through scientific discussion. At this meeting, veterinary pathologists from Asian countries as well as Japan will gather to discuss about diseases that have become a recent problem in the field of veterinary science. I am hoping that this meeting will provide a pleasant occasion for participants to interact and exchange opinions, thus allowing the discovery of future visions in the advancement of veterinary pathology and “One Health”. I am sincerely looking forward to welcoming you in Tokyo.
